Who are the Bruins playing?

If you’re a sports fan like me you like to have a season schedule around. I’m tired of the fridge magnets and the wallet sized versions so I made something that makes sense for me. I spend most of my time near a computer so it only made sense to make a computer wallpaper. Hockey is my favorite sport so naturally I started with the Boston Bruins.

Can I See Your ID Please?

During my last trip to the local liquor store I had an interesting conversation with the cashier to helped me and my wife. We placed our beer and wine on the counter and the cashier promptly asked us for our IDs. The cashier told us we didn’t have to take them out of our wallets but as it turns out the design of the new license doesn’t lend itself to being easily read while sitting in a wallet’s clear plastic window.

The Winter Classic

For the rest of my life I’ll be able to say, “I was there.” It was a day I’ll never forget. Standing in Fenway Park with my Dad watching the Bruins play on New Year’s Day in the 2010 Winter Classic will be a memory I will cherish till the day I die. I took a ton of photos that day. These are just a small sample and I’ll eventually get them all up on Flickr.

Alma

This is an amazing short film directed by Pixar animator Rodrigo Blaas. Rodrigo has been an animator on almost all of the amazing animated films done this decade: Up, WALL•E, Ratatouille, The Incredibles, Finding Nemo and Ice Age. I suppose it’s not a coincidence that this list is mainly comprised of Pixar films.

The Art of Subtlety

The Yankees won their 27th World Series title this year. **Insert Salary Cap discussion here** The Red Sox on the other hand have only won seven. This series of photographs highlights those seven Championships. It also highlights Fenway Park’s subtle, Amazon-like changes. The Red Sox ownership group has done a tremendous job updating the park over recent years without drastically changing the historical feel of it.

Long Overdue Is an Understatement

I know what you’re thinking, it’s about damn time. You’re right. This redesign was a long time coming. I threw up the old site in a hurry to meet certain needs and it took over a year to actually come up with something I liked enough to finish. It’s not just a redesign though. It’s been completely re-written from top to bottom. The old site was run by Textpattern; now we’re looking at the very powerful Expression Engine running things now.

Growth, Kudos and a New Chapter In My Web Life

After four years of Webfoolery™ at Digital Bungalow, today marks my final day with this Salem based interactive agency. It’s been a long and windy road, with more speed bumps than I care to remember, but on the whole, I will always remember Digital Bungalow as the place where I learned the majority of web knowledge.

I’ve been lucky to work with some seriously talented people while at Digital Bungalow. I worked with designers that challenged me to become a better designer. I worked with developers who taught me there was more to HTML than tables. I worked with people who strive to be the best possible web professionals they can be. I wouldn’t be the person I am today without them. These people don’t get the kudos they deserve often enough, so I’m going to give it to them.

Thank you Build Guild!

I just got home from the first meeting of the Build Guild, wow! I expected to have a good time, but not this good of a time. I got there just a few minutes before 6:30 and there were already fifteen or twenty people there. They collected business cards from about 35 attendees and gave away a kick ass adobe backpack and t-shirt… not to mention CS3 Web Premium edition. The beer was tasty and the conversation was memorable. Everyone there couldn’t have been nicer. A quick thanks to everyone I talked to. You all rock! If I didn’t get to talk to you, I’m sure I’ll catch you at the next one. If you were unable to make it tonight, do not miss the next one in August, trust me. A big thank you to Marc Amos and Angelo Simeoni for creating this already very successful group. Keep your eyes on these two.

The Build Guild is tonight!

Today is a very exciting day. Tonight, web geeks will unite in Salem, MA for the first meeting of the build guild. Within a month, the build guild had already reached it’s maximum capacity (dictated by the venue) with a total of 60+ being interested in the event. If you plan on going, I’ll be seeing you there. If you couldn’t RSVP before the cut off, move quickly to RSVP for August, though that’s probably going to be harder than finding a Wii at christmas.
